Matt. 24:1-31, Mark 13:1-27, Luke 21:5-28Matt. 24:1 And Jesus coming out of the temple, went away. And his disciples came to show him the buildings of the temple.
Mark 13:1 And as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him: Master, behold what manner of stones and what buildings are here.
Luke 21:5 And some saying of the temple, that it was adorned with good stones and gifts, he said:

Matt. 24:2 And he answering, said to them: Do you see all these things? Amen I say to you there shall not be left here a stone upon a stone that shall not be destroyed.
Mark 13:2 And Jesus answering, said to him: You see all these great buildings? There shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.
Luke 21:6 These things which you see, the days will come in which there shall not be left a stone upon a stone that shall not be thrown down.
Jesus refers to the city and temple were to be overthrown under the Roman Emperors Vespasian and Titus in 70AD, but also to the fact that everything temporary on this earth is going to come to an end, and not to be too astonished by worldly things._____________________________________________________________________________________________
Matt. 24:3 And when he was sitting on mount Olivet, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the consummation of the world?
Mark 13:3-4 And as he sat on the mount of Olivet over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him apart:
4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall begin to be fulfilled?
Luke 21:7 And they asked him, saying: Master, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when they shall begin to come to pass?
The Disciples supposed that three things, namely, the destruction of the city, the end of the world, and the Day of Judgment would all take place at the same time. And as they knew from the words of Christ that the destruction of the city was close at hand, they thought that the end of the world and the Day of Judgment was also at hand. They seemed to come to this conclusion from the words of Christ (Matt. xxii. 7, 8, and xxiii. 5), where He seems to join all those events together, and speak of them unitedly. _____________________________________________________________________________________________
Matt. 24:4 And Jesus answering, said to them: Take heed that no man seduce you:
Mark 13:5 And Jesus answering, began to say to them, Take heed lest any man deceive you.
Luke 21:8 Who said: Take heed you be not seduced;

Matt. 24:5 For many will come in my name saying, I am Christ: and they will seduce many.
Mark 13:6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and they shall deceive many.
Luke 21:8 for many will come in my name, saying, I am he; and the time is at hand: do not go therefore after them.
This was true during the time of the Apostles, such as Theudas (Acts 5:36) and Simon Magus (Acts 8:10). This sort of thing has always happened and will continue to happen until the Antichrist at the end of time._____________________________________________________________________________________________
Matt. 24:6 And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mark 13:7 And when you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, fear not. For such things must needs be, but the end is not yet.
Luke 21:9 And when you shall hear of wars and seditions, be not terrified: these things must first come to pass; but the end is not yet present.
This applies mainly to the period before the destruction of Jersusalem in 70AD, but it can also be applied in a secondary sense to any time in history as well as the future during the Great Tribulation. _____________________________________________________________________________________________
Matt. 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places:
Mark 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and famines.
Luke 21:10-11 Then he said to them: Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11 And there shall be great earthquakes in divers places, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven; and there shall be great signs.
For Christ's coming did bring peace to divers nations, but every time evil abounds, the love of many grows old, and many desert the Church and She is persecuted; then wars develop when actions which bring about wars are not hindered by holiness; and when the hostile powers are not restrained by the Saints, and it goes unchecked in the hearts of men, it stirs up nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. ____________________________________________________________________________________________
Matt. 24:8 Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Mark 13:8 These things are the beginning of sorrows.

Matt. 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
Mark 13:9 But look to yourselves. For they shall deliver you up to councils, and in the synagogues you shall be beaten, and you shall stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony unto them.
Luke 21:12-13 But before all these things, they will lay their hands upon you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, dragging you before kings and governors, for my name's sake.
All these things happened to the Apostles, which is what Jesus is referring to. But these kinds of things have happened to Christians throughout history and will continue to happen until the end of time._____________________________________________________________________________________________
Mark 13:11 And when they shall lead you and deliver you up, be not thoughtful beforehand what you shall speak; but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that you speak. For it is not you that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
Luke 21:14-15 Lay it up therefore into your hearts, not to meditate before how you shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist and gainsay.
The Apostles are given assurance that they will be given the ability to speak boldly, but that it will be supernatural and not from their own power. This promise applies to all Christians._____________________________________________________________________________________________
Matt. 24:10 And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another.
Mark 13:12 And the brother shall betray his brother unto death, and the father his son; and children shall rise up against the parents, and shall work their death. And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake.
Luke 21:16-17 And you shall be betrayed by your parents and brethren, and kinsmen and friends; and some of you they will put to death. 17And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake.
The warning of such betrayal and hardships was given to the Disciples and all Christians. Christ also said, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword (Matt. 10:34)." Often when someone converts to Christ they experience envy and bitterness from family and friends who are unbelievers or follow another belief. _____________________________________________________________________________________________

Matt. 24:15 When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that reads let him understand.
Mark 13:14 And when you shall see the abomination of desolation, standing where it ought not: he that reads let him understand:
Luke 21:20 And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army; then know that the desolation thereof is at hand.
The abomination of desolation here which Jesus specifically mentions refers to events that lead up to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70AD. The abomination of desolation is not just a one time event but according to Daniel 9:27 it was to happen and continues to happen until the end of time. These Gospel accounts, which record the words of Jesus, should be understood, namely, that there were images erected in the Temple prior to 70AD, and then Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70AD. It probably started to happen when Pilate erected images (Josephus and Philo). _____________________________________________________________________________________________
