Attention

It has come to my attention that this project has been used as "evidence" against the Septuagint for various reasons. I am delighted that people have used this as a tool for research, even if I do not share their conclusions. But I want to point out that after I put this project together, I strongly believe that this Dead Sea Scroll manuscript are Septuagint readings. Some people have used the variant readings within this manuscript as their proof that it is not Septuagint, but the fact of the matter is variant readings are extremely common in Bible manuscripts. Among the New Testament Greek manuscripts you will find much more variant readings at a much greater degree than this Dead Sea Scroll manuscript 8HevXIIgr ever thought about having with the received text of the LXX. Like they say, there are not two Greek manuscripts that are exactly alike. I urge everyone to check out Reuben J. Swanson's New Testament Greek Manuscripts where he lines the Greek manuscripts verse by verse in horizontal lines. If you think the 8HevXIIgr is so different than the LXX received text then you will be blown away by typical readings from New Testament manuscripts. But for those who understand the norm in textual criticism it is nothing out of the ordinary for ancient manuscripts that were copied by hand. ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Greek Minor Prophets (Dead Sea Scrolls) - Litteral's Christian Library

This is a project where I am comparing the Dead Sea Scroll manuscript 8HevXIIgr with the traditional readings of the Greek Septuagint, as well as the readings that exists of Aquila, Symmachus, Theodotion, and the New Testament citations. I am providing all the readings with a linked lexicon for easy comparison, just click on each word and it will provide you with the definition. The 8HevXIIgr readings are provided with the actual words and letters that are existant in the manuscript, and the variant readings of 8HevXIIgr are in red to show where it differs from the Rahlfs version of the LXX. Example from Micah 5:2...

Septuagint 8HevXIIgr Matthew 2:6

John, Interesting project! Just a question: You are working with Rahlfs. Have you referenced Ziegler's Duodecim Prophetae?
