The 1000 year reign of Christ, or the Millennium, is the period of time where Jesus Christ reigns with His people, the Church; it is found in Scripture in Revelation 20:1-10. It is not a literal 1,000 year period of time but it represents the Church Age from the time of Christ until His second coming. The meaning of the Millenium has been disputed for many centuries among Christians, some called premillennialists believe that it refers to a future, earthy reign of Christ, while most other Christians believe that it is the current Church age; this belief is usually called Amillennialism. Amillennialism is a form of Partial Preterism. Partial Preterism is the idea that most, but not all, of the end-time prophecies were fulfilled on or before 70 A.D. In Partial Preterism the only prophetic events remaining to be fulfilled are: - The Apostasy and Final Trial immediately before the second coming of Christ
- The second coming of Christ
- The general resurrection of all believers and unbelievers
- The destruction of the earth
- The great white throne judgment
- The New Heavens and New Earth
- The Lake of Fire
Full Preterists claim that even these events have already been fulfilled. (Full Preterism is often called simply "preterism"). I totally reject Full Preterism. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says:Click hereANCIENT CHRISTIANITY AND THEIR BELIEFWhat did the earliest Christians believe about the Millenium? It was actually split down the middle on who believed in a premillennial or an amillennial doctrine. But those who were premillennialists, they differed in many ways with the modern day premillennialists. Here is a chronological chart of who believed what, plus all those listed have citations to verify. Click
